ArtMoblie 2015…Week Seven (Special Occasion Cakes)
September 1st, 2015
Make THAT CAKE!!!
One thing MOST of us, young and old, can appreciate the idea of celebration a cake brings! We ALL have our favorites! And we also have memories tied to the different cakes that mark certain occasions! Whether it’s a birthday, wedding, anniversary, or (my favorite) just for the sake of cake, we come across it one way or another! What can I say, kids LOVE dessert!
YUM YUM GIMME Some
The themes ranged from superheroes to favorite flavors and then some! The kids took right to the idea and we created some stencils to help them focus on being creative! The sky is the limit an listening to the reasons for designs, color choices or different textured wallpaper was entertaining and insightful.
That’s a wrap!
Being the last of our activities I couldn’t help by reflect on the weeks prior. I REALLY enjoy the relationships I build with the youth and parents who participated. Serving the community through creativity is a rewarding experience. I was to give a young person the same, or better than I had when I was young. Someone and then several other people encouraged me to follow my creativity at an early age. If it weren’t for them and the way Life has a way of guiding who knows where I’d be or what I’d be doing. This second year was a bit smoother, but I feel that is related to the GREAT crew we have and the touch of experience from last year.
If it weren’t for them and the way Life has a way of guiding who knows where I’d be or what I’d be doing.
I’m proud to be part of a creative legacy in the City of New Bedford! I’ve met some former artMOBILE Educators and parents who were former participants and they cheers us on! It’s ALWAYS good to feel appreciated. It’s been 20 years of slinging creativity to the youth and I hope it goes another easy 20!
The best of the best
I would like to thank Debra Smook and Noelle Foye for offering me this opportunity a second year! I’d also like to thank the rest of the Educators for their support and to how easy the made my job this year! My copilot Danielle held it down and was ALWAYS on top of EVERY situation. She got right down there with the kids and made sure they left with something they could treasure. Claire was a GREAT support as our ground support! She would drop of supplies, drinking water and prompt to show when I locked the keys in the van! Our creative mirror, artMOBILE Two, made it look easy! Chantal and Gabrielle spread the Love for a second year together, thank you for your dedication to the arts!
As we all go our separate ways as the Summer ends, the community won’t be the same! We helped make some memories and spark some creativity in several lives in this lovely City! Till next time…Peace!
